If you are in Naples for one day your starting point is almost certainly Piazza Garibaldi. Piazza Garibaldi is the main city transport terminal, the central station. From Piazza Garibaldi it is possible to reach everywhere in the city of Naples and in the entire metropolitan area, even in the province, via the underground, the main lines of buses and trains of the state railways. Consider that, if you are not leaving from there but from Capodichino airport or from Molo Beverello, you can easily reach Piazza Garibaldi by taking the Alibus (public transport bus). Piazza Garibaldi is also easily accessible from other parts of the city, to learn more you can see the transport section on their site. From there we recommend taking the subway to reach Piazza Cavour. Outside the subway you can reach and take Via Duomo, until you reach the splendid Cathedral of Naples with an adjoining visit to the crypt and the treasure museum of San Gennaro.

Naples in one day: get to Spaccanapoli

Via Duomo, continuing along Via San Biagio dei Librai, you will cross the famous historic center of Naples and cross the even more famous Spaccanapoli, the lower decumanus of ancient Naples dating back to the Roman period of the city. This exceptional road seems to divide the city into two , still preserves the path and some peculiarities of its past. The Spaccanapoli road must be traveled up to Via Toledo. Arrived in Via Toledo, you can climb Piazza Dante, look at this beautiful piazza and, perhaps, find refreshment resting on a bench. From Piazza Dante, it is necessary to continue along Via Toledo. The road is long, but it’s downhill, so it won’t be a problem.

Naples in one day: the shopping streets

Via Toledo is one of the most important streets in Naples, as well as one of the main shopping streets. Places of institutions, shops, banks and more, in via Toledo you will find everything. Along Via Toledo from Piazza Dante, at a certain point the imposing Galleria Umberto I will appear on your left. Inspired by the one in Milan, the Galleria Umberto I is a clear example of Italian Liberty style. Its precious craftsmanship and the refinement of its architectural style make it wonderful to visit and admire. Once through the Via Chiaia you will be in Piazza dei Martiri. From there you can take Via Calabritto and find it on Piazza Vittoria.

Naples in one day: the waterfront

Once you arrive in Piazza Vittoria, you can decide whether to visit the Villa Comunale of Naples, which will open majestically to your right, or stay still to admire the splendid seafront of Naples. In both cases, the situation would be perfect to stop for a coffee and, perhaps, find a moment of rest. Once restarted, you will have to travel the beautiful Via Caracciolo. You will come across the majestic Castel dell’Ovo. A visit to the castle and to the underlying Borgo Marinari is a must. Walking along Via Caracciolo you will end up again in the majestic Piazza del Plebiscito. If you didn’t like it at first, this is an opportunity to look better. From Piazza del Plebiscito head towards the Teatro San Carlo, continue straight and continue until, on your right, the splendid Maschio Angioino appears. The square that opens in front of the Maschio Angioino is Piazza Municipio. in front there is via Medina.
